Priorities...Let's Get Them Straight, Okay?

Well as we look at the Proverbs 31 woman, it is going to become apparent that it is about priorities. Where we put them, what we allow to come into our lives, take our time, and what we do with our time. I had two sweet "Sisters in the Lord" email me about this overlay idea. I loved the idea of the quote. Wasn't sure how to implement it in this layout, but it all came together. So as a gentle reminder of us trying to get our priorities straight, here is a new layout. A visible reminder of what is really important! Being important in our childrens lives and in the lives of others. See I do listen to your suggestions! Thank you who ever you are! Have a great day in the Lord.....His, Teri

The Proverbs 31 Woman

Well I went to bed last night....hrhmm at cough, cough, 3:30. But when I got to bed, I could not get this scripture off my mind. Many years ago, when cross stitching was my thing, I cross-stitched this Proverb. As a young married girl, with out my Mom to guide me ( she died of Breast Cancer when I was 20 ) I really needed guidance in how to be a good wife and mother. What better place to turn to than, Proverbs 31. The Virtuous Woman! So, here I am again, reflecting on what exactly that means....So here is the whole section on what she looks like:

10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor

and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Remember, you are just eavesdropping on what the Lord is showing me, so I don't claim to have arrived here by any means! But I am gonna take this a little slow.. like just reflect on the first verse, verse 10. Noble Character, my bible says an excellent wife, who can find one? Well they are out there, but they are hard to find. Not only are we as Moms missing the mark way too often, but we are not raising our girls to be of "Noble Character". I have a 19 year old daughter, who loves the Lord, for which I am so thankful, but I know, this is an area I have more often that not, failed at. Really showing her, and guiding her, into this thinking. We are so busy, so selfish, so uninterested in God's way, way too many times. I am thankful that we know, we can ask anything in his will and he will give it to us. So ask today, that you ( and I ) will become more like the Proverbs 31 Woman. It will not only bless you, but bless your family (and for sure your husband). And for you gals who are still single, you are not off the hook. He still wants you to have these spiritual qualities. You are more likely than not, someones spiritual mother. There is someone who is looking to you, or at you, to see how you respond to everyday situations. After all, isn't that true for all of us. We need to reflect these qualities in our everyday life. That's where we live! And to be of more value to Him that Ruby's..well now, thats a thought. Yesterday, I had to do a few things on the computer for my hubby and later, I had to help him find some things he was looking for, telling him where I thought he would have put them, and I thought then, "Yep, my job is secure here, he can't use the computer without me, and needs me to help him find the catsup behind the milk in the fridge." See I am of great value to him. That's what we want right? To be of value to our spouses? So instead of getting frustrated, remember the worth of being a Proverbs 31 woman. So as I continue to grow in His Grace, won't you come with me in this journey?

You Up For Another Challenge? I Digi-Dare You!

Ok, now that we have the July challenge over...Lets get ready to Tumble again! I was Soooo excited over the July challenge and so pleased with the number of downloads, 603 as of this morning! WOW that's so awesome! A big thank you to all who downloaded it and an even BIGGER thank you to all who entered the challenge. So my digi-dare is this, enter the challenge at http://www.digiscrapdepot.com/ ! Its fun and Vicky, the Administrator over at DigiScrapDepot has graciously lowered the cost to just $1 to enter! Well it will actually be $1.34, $1 goes to DSD and the other is for the paypal charge. So for just $1.34 you can join the fun. Because of all the interest in the overlays that I have been doing and that seem to be so popular now, that is the basis for the August Template. And because it is summer time and many are going on Vacations (as we call them) and I know that others say Holiday...(some say tomatoes, some say tomato's)...now you can "Pick-A-Template" Its your choice, you choose which template to use, either the vacation one, or the holiday one. Make sure you add whatever elements, doodles, etc. Then you go grab your favorite pics and create your template. Now all you have to do is just "pop" the new template into your Starbucks Tumbler. Isn't that a great way to keep those vacation (holiday) memories alive? I love the idea that you can choose which one you want to use. So, get busy and download the templates, and get ready to tumble! His, Teri
*edited the vacation template 8/11/08 I had left some of my pics on the template, sorry about that! If you already downloaded, the template is the same, so no need to download it again.

"Hybrid Project Reveal" 8.5 x 11 Template #1

I wanted to show you one of the first things I made when I started digi-scrapping! I wanted to use the word art that I had created and I also needed a prayer journal for our new Bible Study at our church. Well, I scraplifted a design from Shabby Princess "Shabby Mommy' kit and used this basic template I made and added the word art to the larger grey area. I measured the cover of a notebook and made my template that size. To make the edges blend better, after I trimmed it the best I could, I actually used a nail file to smooth the edges. I looked for a notebook that did not have a spiral binding so I could just glue it to the cover. I then cut a strip of paper from a paper sack, of all things, to glue over the binding. I am not sure I needed to do that but I wanted it to kinda look shabby chic....so then I used a foam brush and put 2 coats of modge podge over the papers to "varnish" the outside. Voila! Finished... I am sharing the template today and hope to see what you make with it. Blessings, Teri

Self-Control.... the last of the Fruits of the Spirit

Self-Control - Noun
the ability to control one's feelings, emotions, or reactions. This is the dictionary defination of self-control. I understand it, I struggle with it. I really think that for me, it needs to be God-Control. You see, I don't want me to be in control. I've tried that, some times still do, and it is not a pretty thing! I am so much happier, friendlier, "fruit-ful" and usable by God, when I am under His control. The problem for me is staying under His-Control. The key is constant submission to the Holy Spirit. That "S" word.....agh.... thats the kicker for me. I like control, so it is a struggle. I have been so blessed just doing these simple overlays, and I look forward to seeing what God has designed for me to share! Hrhmmmm, I can't keep it a secret! Tommorow, you will get a wonderful Wordart with the Fruits of the Spirit! Blessing and Grace, Teri

Anyone with a Calendar template for 2009?

I am looking for a template to make some calendars for 2009. I want a place to add a scrapbooking layout. I would prefer it to be 8 1/2 x 11. Any help would be so appreciated! It just might show up as a freebie....wink wink... :0) I would like it to be a free download if possible. With the month, and days of the week.......blank area on top so I can design something there......thanks in advance. Teri

Only 2 more pieces of Fruit left to go

Well there are only 2 pieces left of the Fruits of the Spirit overlays. Today's is PEACE. When I think of peace, I have to remember that Jesus said, "I am leaving you at peace. I am giving you my own peace. I am not giving it to you as the world gives. So don't let your hearts be troubled, and don't be afraid." John 14:27 The peace that he is talking about is not a feeling, it is a place of being. Jesus is giving us His peace. Think of how is must have been to be totally at peace with God. Settled, assured, secure...isn't that great? We all want Peace, but this is a personal peace that will withstand anything that comes your way. NO matter what. I personally have experienced his peace in the midst of severe trials, and I am thankful for his presence. Now, do I always have this peace? Unfortunately, no. It is always available to me, I just don't walk in it. I am going to miss my daily piece of fruit when this is over, I need to have it in front of me so that I will remember how good it is! "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!" Psalm 34:8 Till tommorow..... His, Teri
